The Polymorphism Information Content (PIC) for a SNP with known allele frequencies is calculated as:


PIC = 1 - ∑_i p_i² - ∑_i ∑_j>i 2 * p_i² * p_j²


Where:

- p_i is the frequency of each allele.


- The first term represents the sum of the squares of the allele frequencies.

- The second term represents the sum of all cross-products for informativeness.
