The Polymorphism Information Content (PIC) for a SNP with known allele frequencies is calculated as:
PIC = 1 - ∑i pi2 - ∑i ∑j>i 2 * pi2 * pj2
Where:
- pi is the frequency of each allele.
- The first term represents the sum of the squares of the allele frequencies.
- The second term represents the sum of all cross-products for informativeness.
